Refers to a group of interdependent sub-subsystems, assemblies and/or components, required to create a functioning subsystem. For example, the engine system contains several subsystems including the following: crank drive subsystem, cylinder block subsystem, cylinder head subsystem, fuel induction subsystem, and air induction subsystem.
