1. Applies the principles of science and mathematics to develop economical solutions to technical problems. The work is the link between scientific discoveries and the commercial applications that meet societal and consumer needs.
2. Individual who is licensed by a state as a Professional Engineer to practice one or more disciplines of engineering and who is qualified by education, technical knowledge, and experience to make the specific technical certifications required under this subpart. Professional engineers making these certifications must be currently licensed in at least one state in which the certifying official is located. [40 CFR 60.5430b (CFR 2024)]
