Enterprise data catalog
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-009695
The EDC enables EPA to continue to implement and maintain a comprehensive enterprise data inventory and describe datasets using metadata in compliance with federal requirements under the Evidence Act. Researchers use one of three methods to create metadata records for the EDC: ScienceHub, EPA's Open Data Metadata Editor, and Arc GIS Pro metadata editor. The EDC also facilities understanding and confident usage of EPA's data using the following data catalog features: Associate data assets to policies, memoranda, guidance, business glossaries, user guides, and data dictionaries so users can understand and optimize the use of each data asset.; Allow users to view the structure and format (e.g., tables and columns) of an EPA data set to better understand the data and assess if it will meet their intended use prior to downloading the data.; Communicate directly with stewards of a data asset using the integrated Conversations feature within the EDC.
