Environmental Risk

1. Environmental risk is the chance that human health or the environment will suffer harm as the result of the presence of environmental hazards.
2. Likelihood, or probability, of injury, disease, or death resulting from exposure to a potential environmental hazard.
3. The potential for adverse effects on living organisms associated with pollution of the environment by effluents, emissions, wastes, or accidental chemical releases; energy use; or the depletion of natural resources.
