Essential-Use Gas

Under the Montreal Protocol, certain ozone depleting gases may be imported, exported, or manufactured for uses which met essential use criteria and for which there currently exist no viable substitute. Certain chlorofluorocarbons, halons, methyl chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and bromochloromethane are those common gases.
