  "definition": "1. Excluded engines that have been excluded from the emission requirements of the Clean Air Act. Reasons for exclusion include vehicle age (i.e., manufactured prior to the regulations, fuel type, maximum speed, competition or racing features, or lack of features associated with practical street or highway use).\n\n2. Relating to engines that are not subject to some or all of the requirements of this part as follows:(1) An engine that has been determined not to be a heavy-duty engine is excluded from this part. (2) Certain heavy-duty engines are excluded from the requirements of this part under § 1036.5.(3) Specific regulatory provisions of this part may exclude a heavy-duty engine generally subject to this part from one or more specific standards or requirements of this part.",
