1. The extent to which the findings of a study can be applied to other populations, settings, or times.
2. Used interchangeably with "external validity." (GAO, Designing Evaluations 1991, p. 92)
3. The extent to which a finding applies (or can be generalized) to persons, objects, settings, or times other than those that were the subject of study. (GAO, Designing Evaluations 1991, p. 92)
