Geologic sequestration

1. The process of injecting carbon dioxide (CO2), which has been compressed into a liquid state, into the deep subsurface.

2. Longterm containment of a gaseous, liquid, or supercritical carbon dioxide stream in subsurface geologic formations. This term does not apply to carbon dioxide capture or transport.
