Grab Sample

1. A single sample of soil or of water taken without regard to time or flow.
2. A sample which is taken from a wastestream on a one-time basis without consideration of the flow rate of the wastestream and without consideration of time.
3. A single sample collected at a particular time and place which represents the composition of the water only at that time and place.
4. A single sample collected at a particular time and place that represents the composition of the water, air, or soil only at that time and place.
5. Single sample which is collected at a time and place most representative of total discharge.
6. A single sample collected at a particular time and place that represents the composition of the water, air, or soil only at that time and place. [EPA 2004]
