Hydric soil
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-013613
1. Soil that is saturated or flooded with water for long enough during the growing season that its upper portion develops anaerobic or low-oxygen conditions.
2. Soil that formed under conditions of saturation, flooding, or ponding long enough during the growing season to develop anoxic conditions in the upper part of the soil profile.
3. A soil that is saturated, flooded, or ponded long enough during the growing season to develop anaerobic conditions that favor the growth and regeneration of hydrophytic vegetation. Hydric soils that occur in areas having positive indicators of hydrophytic vegetation and wetland hydrology are wetland soils.
4. A soil that is saturated, flooded, or ponded long enough during the growing season to develop anaerobic (oxygen-lacking) conditions that flavor the growth and regeneration of hydrophytic vegetation.
