In-Situ Leaching

The process (presently the most common method used in the U.S.) involves drilling wells deep underground and using chemicals (typically are alkaline and include sodium bicarbonate and oxygen mixed with water) to dissolve the uranium before it is pumped to the surface as a liquid through wells.
