1. Integrase is an enzyme that catalyzing the integration of viral DNA into the host genome. These enzymes act to cleave and religate the joints between host DNA and integrated DNA.
2. Recombinases that insert exogenous DNA into the host genome. Examples include proteins encoded by the pol gene of retroviridae and also by temperate bacteriophases, the best known being bacteriophase lameda.
