Interquartile Range
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-014808
1. A measure of spread; a statistic used with ordinal, interval, and ratio variables.
2. The difference between the 25th and 75th percentile of the data. Because the IQR measures the range of the central 50 percent of the data and is not influenced by the 25 percent on either end, it is less sensitive to extremes or outliers than the sample variance and standard deviation.
