Iron Control Agent

1. In hydraulic fracturing iron control agents are used to keep insoluble iron compounds from forming and precipitating. The agents used are often citric or hydrochloric acid.
2. In drinking water supplies, polyphosphates may be added before chlorination to prevent the formation of insoluble iron salts.
