Latitude

1. The angular distance north or south of the earth's equator along a meridian of longitude.

2. A measure of how far north or south a particular place is located on the Earth. Latitude is measured in degrees (°). The equator has a latitude of 0°. The North Pole's latitude is 90° north, and the South Pole's latitude is 90° south.

3. The location north or south in reference to the equator, which is designated at zero (0) degrees. Lines of latitude are parallel to the equator and circle the globe. The North and South poles are at 90 degrees North and South latitude.
