Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-015851
1. Changing a solid into a liquid.
2. In cohesionless soil, the transformation from a solid to a liquid as a result of increased pore pressure and reduced effective stress.
3. A process by which water-saturated sediment temporarily loses strength and acts as a fluid, like when you wiggle your toes in the wet sand near the water at the beach. This effect can be caused by earthquake shaking.
