Macroalgae

1. Algae that are easily seen by the naked eye, are multicellular and appear in a variety of colors (red, green, brown) and forms (filamentous, leaf-like, mats, sheets, fur-like clumps).
2. Individual alga large enough to be seen with the naked eye.
3. Aquatic plants growing in or near water. They may be either emergent (i.e., with upright portions above the water surface), submerged or floating.
