Measure of Effect

1. A change in an attribute of an assessment endpoint or its surrogate in response to a stressor to which it is exposed.
2. Describes change assessment endpoint (or surrogate) attributes in response to a stressor to which it is exposed. Dose-response data are an example.
3. A measurable characteristic of ecological entity that can be related to an assessment endpoint; e.g. a laboratory test for eight species meeting certain requirements may serve as a measure of effect for an assessment endpoint, such as survival of fish, aquatic, invertebrate, or algal species under acute exposure.
