Natural Gas Liquid

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-018256

1. Petroleum that occurs naturally as a gas in the reservoir, but as a liquid under surface conditions. Natural gas liquids are typically reported separately from crude oil.

2. Those hydrocarbons in natural gas that are separated from the gas as liquids through the process of absorption, condensation, adsorption, or other methods in gas processing or cycling plants. Natural gas liquids include natural gas plant liquids (primarily ethane, propane, butane, and isobutane) and lease condensate (primarily pentanes produced from natural gas at lease separators and field facilities).

3. Liquid hydrocarbons, such as ethane, propane, butane, pentane, natural gasoline, and condensate that are extracted from field natural gas.

4. Hydrocarbons, such as ethane, propane, butane, and pentane, that are extracted from field gas.[40 CFR 60.631 (CFR 2013)]

5. Hydrocarbons in natural gas that are separated from the gas as liquids through the process of absorption, condensation, adsorption, or other methods. Generally, such liquids consist of ethane, propane, butanes, and pentanes plus. Bulk NGLs refers to mixtures of NGLs that are sold or delivered as undifferentiated product from natural gas processing plants.

6. Natural gasoline or other mixtures of hydrocarbons (primarily but not limited to propane, butane, pentane, hexane, and heptane) that are separated from the gaseous state of natural gas in the form of liquids at a facility, such as a natural gas production facility, gas processing plant, natural gas pipeline, refinery, or similar facility.
