Overflow Rate

1. One of the guidelines for the design of settling tanks and clarifiers in treatment plants. Used by operators to determine if tanks and clarifiers are hydraulically (flow) over- or underloaded. Overflow Rate (GDP/sq ft) = Flow (GPD)/Surface Area (sq ft).
