Picocurie

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-021017

1. A measure of radioactivity. One picocurie of radioactivity is equivalent to 0.037 nuclear disintegrations per second.

2. One pCi is one trillionth of a curie, 0.037 disintegrations per second, or 2.22 disintegrations per minute.

3. A unit for measuring radioactivity, often expressed as picocuries per liter (pCi/L) of air. "Pico (p)" is a metric prefix that means one one-millionth of one one-millionth. A picocurie is one one-millionth of one one-millionth of a Curie (Ci).

4. One-trillionth (1/1,000,000,000,000) of a Curie.
