Pituitary Gland

1. The main endocrine gland. It produces hormones that control other glands and many body functions, especially growth.

2. Pea-sized endocrine gland located at the base of the brain in the pituitary fossa. It produces and secretes hormones such as oxytocin and vasopressin, to regulate the activities of the hypothalamus.
