Point Estimate

1. An estimate of a population parameter that is a single numerical value.

2. A quantity calculated from values in a sample to represent an unknown population parameter. Point estimates typically represent central tendency or upper bound estimate of variability.

3. A single numerical value resulting from calculation(s). [AIHA 2000]

4. Single value used for input variable (e.g., concentration); usually the mean, median, or a high percentile of all observed values.
