Population exposure or risk assessment

A process that evaluates the likelihood of an adverse impact on human health (risk), or amount of exposure, of a chemical or group of chemicals for groups of actual or hypothetical people. For cancer causing chemicals, population risk can be expressed as the number of people estimated to be exposed to specific risk levels or as the number of excess cancer cases expected to occur.
