A measure of insulation. The higher the R-value, the better walls and roofs will resist the transfer of heat. For more information visit the Department of Energy's Web site.
1. R-value or "thermal resistance value" is a measure of the resistance of a material to heat flow. The term is typically used to describe the resistance properties of insulation. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulation's resistance to heat flow.
