1. The process by which precipitation seeps into the groundwater system.

2. Process by which rain water (precipitation) seeps into the ground-water system.

3. The process by which water is added to a zone of saturation, usually by percolation from the soil surface; e.g., the recharge of an aquifer.

4. Process, natural or artificial, by which water is added to the saturated zone of an aquifer.
