Redemption Program

1. Refers to a program where consumers are monetarily compensated for the collection of recyclable materials, generally through pre-paid deposits or taxes on beverage containers. In some states or localities, legislation has been passed to implement redemption programs to assist in the prevention of roadside litter (bottle bills).
