Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-023726

1. The confidence that (potential) users have in a model and in the information derived from the model such that they are willing to use the model and the derived information. Specifically, reliability is a function of the performance record of a model and its conformance to best available, practicable science.

2. The extent to which a measurement instrument yields consistent, stable, and uniform results over repeated observations or measurements under the same conditions each time.

3. The confidence that (potential) users have in a model and in the information derived from the model such that they are willing to use the model and the derived information (Sargent 2000). Specifically, reliability is a function of the performance record of a model and its conformance to best available, practicable science.
