Salt marsh

1. Wetlands that are located in salt water areas and are dominated by cordgrass, also called Spartina. Salt marshes are one of the most productive plant communities on earth.
2. A grassland containing salt-tolerant vegetation established on sediments bordering saline water bodies where water level fluctuates either tidally or nontidally (see also marsh).
3. Saltwater wetlands that occur along many coasts.
