Semi-Permeable Membrane Device

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-025190

Devices consisting of a thin film of the lipid triolein sealed inside a lay-flat thin-walled tube of low density polyethylene and have been used for almost 2 decades to mimic hydrophobic organic contaminant (HOCs) exposure to and bioaccumulation in lipids of aquatic organisms. SPMDs are used to access contamination in aquatic waters.
