Septic system

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-025251

  1. 1. An on-site system designed to treat and dispose of domestic sewage. A typical septic system consists of a tank that receives waste from a residence or business and a system of tile lines or a pit for disposal of the liquid effluent (sludge) that remains after decomposition of the solids by bacteria in the tank; must be pumped out periodically.

    2. An onsite system designed to treat and dispose of domestic sewage; a typical septic system consists of a tank that receives wastes from a residence or business, and a system of tile lines or a pit for disposal of the liquid effluent that remains after decomposition of the solids by bacteria in the tank.

    3. An on-site system designed to treat and dispose of domestic sewage. A typical septic system consists of tank that receives waste from a residence or business and a system of tile lines or a pit for disposal of the liquid effluent (sludge) that remains after decomposition of the solids by bacteria in the tank and must be pumped out periodically.

    4. A septic system is used to dispose of human sanitary waste or effluent from dwellings, businesses, community centers or other places where people congregate. They include a septic tank and a subsurface fluid distribution system. The UIC requirements do not apply to single family residential septic systems or to non-residential septic systems which are used solely for the disposal of sanity waste and have the capacity to serve fewer than 20 people a day.

    5. Well that is used to emplace sanitary waste below the surface and is typically comprised of a septic tank and subsurface fluid distribution system or disposal system.

    6. On-site system designed to treat and dispose of sewage.

    7. Septic System is an on-site system designed to treat and dispose of sewage.

  2. Systems that carry wastewater away from our homes when we turn on a faucet or flush a toilet.
