Short-Term Exposure Limit

1. An airborne concentration of a substance to which workers are permitted to be exposed for a short duration, usually 15 minutes. STELs are published and enforced by OSHA.
2. EPA regulatory limit on workplace exposure to an airborne concentration of a chemical substance, based on an exposure of less than eight hours.
