Simulation
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-025623
1. The use of mathematical models to approximate the observed behavior of a natural water system in response to a specific known set of input and forcing conditions. Models that have been validated, or verified, are then used to predict the response of a natural water system to changes in the input or forcing conditions.
2. The development and use of a non-unique, simplified description of the physical system, which may be mathematical and coded in computer programming language or physical, such as the development of physical models or the use of model organisms. [based on ANSI/ASQ E4-2004 Quality systems for environmental data and technology programs - Requirements with guidance for use].
