1. An area or place within the jurisdiction of the EPA and/or a state.
2. A specific location or body of water (e.g., a stream reach, a pond, an embayment of a lake, or an area of an estuary).
3. Geographic location. One or more stations may be at the same site.
4. Any combination of one or more graded pad sites, gravel pad sites, foundations, platforms, or the immediate physical location upon which equipment is physically located.
5. Area(s) where a hazardous substance has been deposited, stored, disposed, or placed, or has otherwise come to be located. Such areas may include multiple sources and may include the area between sources.
6. Land or water area where any “facility or activity” is physically located or conducted, including adjacent land used in connection with the facility or activity.[40 CFR 122.2 (CFR 2013)]
7. Land or water area upon which a major PSD stationary source or major PSD modification is physically located or conducted, including but not limited to adjacent land used for utility systems; as repair, storage, shipping or processing areas; or otherwise in connection with the major PSD stationary source or major PSD modification.
8. Contiguous property unit. Property divided only by a public right-of-way shall be considered one site. There may be more than one plant on a single site. The site for a person who imports a substance is the site of the operating unit within the person's organization which is directly responsible for importing the substance and which controls the import transaction and may in some cases be the organization's headquarters office in the United States.

15. Area contained within the boundary of a location under the effective control of persons possessing or using spent nuclear fuel or radioactive waste that are involved in any activity, operation, or process covered by this subpart
16. Area contained within the boundary of a location under the control of persons possessing or using radioactive material on which is conducted one or more operations covered by this part.
