Step 8 Evidentiary Hearing

As noted above, an administrative hearing is the equivalent of a trial in federal court in that it is a formal process of presenting witness testimony and exhibits in an orderly and efficient manner through direct and cross examination before an adjudicator. Administrative hearings are generally open to the public, unless a party has filed, and the ALJ has granted, a Motion for a Protective Order to close to the public those parts of the hearing in which the party intends to present confidential business information.
