Definition of the hazards with respect to traditional biological classification taxonomy and strain variations have potentially a large impact on risk assessment. The difference in dose response range between isolates and strain can be orders of magnitude. Some strains may not be infective to humans, in addition the ratio of different strains the environment can fluctuate.
