Technical Assistance

1. Support provided to State, tribal, and local jurisdictions when they have the resources but lack the complete knowledge and skills needed to perform a required activity (such as mobile-home park design or hazardous material assessments).

2. Technical assistance is support provided by a third party to EPA regions to conduct response activities. Third parties that may provide assistance include U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U. S. EPA laboratories, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Superfund Technical Assistance and Response Team (START), and Response Action Contracts (RAC) contractors.
