Waste-to-Energy

1. The process of burning solid waste, landfill gas, tires, or other forms of waste to produce heat or electricity.
2. A recovery process in which waste is incinerated or otherwise turned into steam or electricity, and used to generate heat, light or power through the process of combustion.
3. Process or unit ( e.g., solid waste incineration unit) that recovers energy from the conversion or combustion of waste stream materials, such as municipal solid waste, to generate electricity and/or heat.
