Counterproof

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001386

A proof taken from another freshly printed proof, rather than directly from the printing plate or block. This is achieved by pressing a blank sheet of paper onto a wet, inked proof, transferring the image. It provides a reverse image of the original proof and can be used to check for defects or to create a mirror image for certain printing processes.
