Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002058
A rigid, closed-cell foam material produced from solid beads of polystyrene. During manufacturing, these beads are expanded with steam and then fused together inside a mold, creating a lightweight material composed of approximately 98% air. Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is widely used for thermal insulation in construction, protective packaging for fragile goods, and as flotation material in marine applications.
