Flash for cash
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002322
A fraudulent practice where a driver flashes their headlights to signal another driver to proceed, such as at an intersection or when merging, and then intentionally causes a collision. The at-fault driver then files an insurance claim, falsely asserting they had the right-of-way. This type of staged accident is a form of insurance fraud, and dashcam footage is a primary tool for investigators and insurers to disprove such claims.
