Kickback

A sudden, forceful backward or upward thrust of a chainsaw or other cutting tool, occurring when the tip of the guide bar or the top of the chain makes contact with an object. Kickback is a dangerous occurrence that can cause severe injury to the operator. Modern chainsaws incorporate safety features to reduce its risk.
