Arc flash

A dangerous release of energy caused by an electrical arc fault, resulting in a sudden burst of heat, light, sound, and pressure. This event can cause severe burns, blindness, and other injuries to workers in close proximity. The incident energy of an arc flash is measured in calories per square centimeter.
