Arc-fault circuit interrupter

A specialized circuit breaker designed to detect and mitigate dangerous electrical arc faults by quickly de-energizing the circuit. It differentiates between normal operating arcs, such as those in motor brushes, and hazardous arcs that could lead to fires. AFCI devices are mandated by electrical codes in many countries for residential circuits.
