Residual-current device
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004798
An electrical safety device that quickly disconnects a circuit when it detects an imbalance between the live and neutral currents, indicating a leakage current to earth. This imbalance suggests a fault that could cause electric shock or fire. Residual-current devices are rated by their tripping current, with common values being 10mA or 30mA for personal protection.
