Live wire

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003380

An electrical conductor that is at a voltage potential significantly different from the earth or ground, and therefore carries electrical current. Touching a live wire can result in an electric shock. In AC power systems, the live wire typically carries the phase voltage, such as 120V or 230V.
