Leakage current
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003289
A small, unintended electric current that flows from an electrical circuit to ground or to another conductive part, even when the circuit is nominally open or insulated. This current can occur due to imperfect insulation, capacitive coupling, or filter components. Excessive leakage current can pose a shock hazard or interfere with sensitive electronic equipment, and is regulated by safety standards like IEC 60950.
