Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004199
The conductor providing a connection between exposed conductive parts of an electrical installation and the main earthing terminal, also known as Protective Earth (PE). This connection is a safety measure designed to prevent electric shock by providing a path for fault current to flow to the ground, tripping a protective device like a circuit breaker. In wiring color codes, the PE conductor is identified by green-and-yellow stripes under IEC 60445.
