Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006890
An abbreviation for Circuit Protective Conductor, a safety wire that connects the exposed metal parts of an electrical appliance or installation to the main earthing terminal. This conductor, often called a ground wire, provides a low-resistance path for fault current to flow to the earth in the event of an insulation failure, causing a fuse or circuit breaker to operate and disconnect the power. In standard wiring, the CPC is identified by green-and-yellow striped insulation.
