Grounded
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002670
The state of being electrically connected to the earth or a large conductive body that serves as a common return path for electric current. This connection provides a reference potential and a path for fault currents, preventing dangerous voltage buildup on equipment enclosures. Electrical codes, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), mandate grounding for safety in most installations.
